George Tillett
Here’s a great new CD by George Tillett. It’s Traditional Country for
all of our Traditionalists out there and I know you’re going to really
enjoy this one. The recording session is graced by the presence of our
good friend Don Kidwell of Don & Annie Kidwell fame. There’s a nice up-tempo version of “The Orange Blossom Special” guaranteed to get your
toes tapping. Terry Christoffersen shines on this and the other
tracks on the CD. Especially interesting is “My Old Guitar” that tells
of the sad reality that Traditional Country music only has listeners
overseas and no longer played in the US, at least on the airwaves. “My
old guitar has found a place to play since Nashville, Tennessee is
fading away. There’s Norway and the Netherlands they love to hear us
play that old country music that’s part of yesterday”. There may be a
bit too much “cryin’ in my beer” here for my taste but there is enough
variety to keep the listener interested in the CD from start to finish.

“George Tillett was born in Holdenville Oklahoma. He moved to
Bakersfield California in 1940.
George has been a fan of country music as long as he can remember. One

playing in bands since the 1940's. George has played at many famous
clubs in Bakersfield such as The Blackboard, The Lucky Spot, The Texas

witness firsthand some of the great talent that Bakersfield had to
offer at the time country music was really big in Bakersfield. People
