Jack Kapanka is a singer songwriter with an excellent collection of songs entitled "One Eyed Jack". The title refers to the fact that he was born blind but at the age of two regained the sight in one eye. Jack is a story teller and keeps the listener's attention with a good variety of story songs. His vocals are top notch and have a very nice Country sound without too much twang. There is a lot of acoustic guitar and gives the CD a troubador flavor that reminds me of James Taylor, Dan Fogelberg and Gordon Lightfoot. The instrumentation is very delicate and very easy to listen to. I guess that's where the term "Easy Listening" comes from? There is enough subtle drive in the music to make it more than just "Easy Listening" and I think all of our Country listeners would enjoy this great CD.
Jack Kapanka has opened for 'N Sync and Backstreet Boys at a Tornado Relief concert, and his song "A Champion" was chosen to open the 2001 Special Olympics World Games. He started out as a stuntman and is now the publishing coordinator for Transcontinental Records. You can hear some of this excellent Smooth Country (Hey did I just invent a category?) at his very cool Flash powered site:
